Partner Highlight: USGBC Los Angeles trains over 200 Metro employees

GPRO’s success in over eleven states and three Canadian provinces would not be possible without our partners, who have done exceptional work in delivering GPRO to their local audiences. In Los Angeles, our west coast counterparts, the U.S. Green Building Council Los Angeles Chapter (USGBC LA), have been bringing green building to LA’s transportation sector.

USGBC LA hit the ground running with GPRO training in January 2017 and has rolled out monthly classes ever since. Their primary focus has been the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, where they have trained over 200 employees, ranging from facilities maintenance supervisors to system technicians and project managers. Training a breadth of professionals has hammered home the idea that successfully implementing high-performance building practices requires everyone to be on the same page.

Students walk away with an appreciation for both the GPRO program and its instructors, who were handpicked from the Chapter’s network of talented professionals. A participant who works for Los Angeles Sanitation Department remarked that GPRO was “an informative class which allows me to apply real-life green building techniques at my job. It has provided me a well-encompassing knowledge of why green sustainability is important for our future.”

Through their regional tailoring of the program and their passionate instructors, Los Angeles students walk away with a better understanding of sustainable buildings and systems. In fact, over 70 percent of students plan to use at least one technique that they learned from GPRO in their everyday work.

Thank you USGBC LA, for advancing sustainability in the built environment through GPRO and other valuable programming!
